We are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the dates for this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
This seasonal event in the Magic Kingdom comes complete with a special parade, special fireworks, special snacks, merch, and even meet and greets with rare characters! You also need to buy a special ticket — so we’re here today to warn you about one date you might want to avoid.
One of the big benefits of attending a special ticketed event in Magic Kingdom is that Disney World limits the capacity for the event so that the crowds are pretty low. And that means lines — for everything from food to merchandise to rides — are usually short.
Last year, there were 37 different days you could choose to attend this Halloween Party, and we expect the similar choices for 2024. So which date would we advise you to stay away from? The party’s opening night.
There are a couple of reasons we’re bring you this advice today, so let’s look at them!
Crowds
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the highlight of the year for many Disney fans. It’s definitely one of the All Ears’ teams favorite events, and we are not alone — we know many of our readers love it, too! The year we wait to experience it again can seem very long, and many of us jump at the first chance to go to the party again.
And another note on those crowds — AllEars sends multiple reporters to the first party to review everything new — the new snacks, the new merchandise, and more. We want to get those items and bring you reviews of them as quickly as we can — to help you plan your trip. As you might imagine, we’re not alone in the quest. The many other Disney creators out there also attend the first party, and that can make for crowds around special party merchandise and snacks, that may not exist on other party nights.
Weather
The Florida weather does tend to get cooler and less humid around Halloween. However, the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is usually in mid-August. Last year, the first night was August 11th. That’s very much still summer in Florida, so if you’re hoping to enjoy a cooler fall evening in Magic Kingdom, we suggest waiting until September or October to go.
Kinks
Disney World knows what they are doing, obviously, and they have had the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for many years. But, there are always new things introduced, and sometimes the first night of the party may not go as smoothly as other nights.
If you wait for another night, any potential first night issues should be worked out.
